I have heard of warming down in relation to weight training. I have never really heard of it in relation to singing, but I suppose the basic principals still apply. Basically the idea of warming down is that you dont just stop after you have exercised a certain part of your body. The idea is that after all the physical exercision, a sudden stop could cause some damage to the muscle group you are after "working out". In singing terms the muscle group would be your larynx, or vocal cords. Do you understand what im saying?
Basically after you come off stage after a gig, you should sing some scales, or hum for a while to slowly warm down your voice. This is suppsoed to be better for you than just stopping all vocal activity after a gig.
