Tonight, President Bush lays out this:
-Saddam and sons have 48 hours.
-Promises Iraqis food and medicines as the ares are cleared.
-Will give forwarded instructions to the Iraqi troops as to how to avoid battle via surrender

interesting how suddenly 1441 is sufficient to start a war. why work on a new one at all?

the arrogance of that speech was calculated. bush has some balls to tell the iraqis what they want, the soldiers how to fight, the leaders what to do, etc. im not one to support saddam hussein, but he's not going to just pack up and leave. what kind of ignominy would that be?

start the war clock! :)For what it is worth, there have been several instances where what Bush said has been proven right as far as what the Iraqis want.
No one expects Saddam to leave. It is another way for the US to say that they gave Hussein ANOTHER final chance. After that, all bets are off.

oh, i agree, and i dont expect him to leave. there's no way. it's just fucking ridiculous to ask him to do it at all, i think. regardless of what is thought of him.

Bush didn't fuck up alor either in delivering it. I only noticed one slip up.....

he didnt fuck up, but thats because he speaks SO SLOWLY AND ERRATICALLY. he has gotten better about not making mistakes but he sacrificed any sort of speech flow to do it. seriously, all of his policy decisions and personal beliefs aside, he is probably the worst public speaker ive heard.
plus he says "nucular," which gets zero cool points unless you're homer simpson.

Yeah. NUCULAR. He has gotten better though overall in his speeches. He still isn't good, but better.
I was watching TOny Blair this morning during the debate in the House of Commons. He is a great public speaker. He has passion.

i think that Bush has passion however he lacks pronunciation. :) when he's just speaking he is very good (press conferences and such). It's when he has to read something that his speech writers have written that he turns into stuttering john. :lol:

He does have a personal passion, I don't doubt that but it doesn't translate well in his speeches. Except for the ones where he goes on his own and threatens errant countries. He sounds like he means it there.
