the most hazardous part will be, if it comes to that, the storming of bagdad. then the loss of allies will be significantly higher. a city of 5 million. it can get messy. hopefully will saddam be removed before that!

"The spectacular blasts lit up the night sky, illuminating the city even as they decimated it."
The "spectacular blasts"? This isn't creative writing class, this is war. I don't think we're supposed to make it sound beautiful. God, sometimes I hate journalists.

I watched the Baghdad bombing live what...3 and a half hours ago and it was the uumm choose words carefully....umm no fuck it, it was the best tv I've ever seen.
What made it better than it otherwise would have been was the lack of commentary. Seeing that shit was absolutely fucking awesome. Gotta hand it to the yanks. I get the feeling that what I witnessed will be talked about for years to come and anyone who wants to go fuck with USA in the future go right ahead - just get the cameras and popcorn ready

Exactly, anybody else has "weapons of mass murder" while the U.S. has "a spectacular light show."

Yeah, but nobody fucked with us. This was a completely unnecessary, unjust bombing to temporaily fill the pockets of oil families and allow the U.S. to have upper hand control over all countries who import oil from Iraq. You didn't witness a moment of greatness, you witnessed the results of deception, public manipulation and greed. Fucking retard.

this is true. There's so many ways to look at this situation, it depends what you want to believe at the end of the day I guess.
I believe it's about time someone had the balls to say "fuck this arseing around, lets destroy this regime once and for all and make the world a better place. It really is that simple. Thankfully the voice of reason has spoken at long last.

Conspiracy theories are simplified and banalized versions of the truth. But mindless propaganda-swallowing macho "we're the good guys so let's destroy the bad guys" type of shit is much much more stupid and dangerous.

But mindless propaganda-swallowing macho "we're the good guys so let's destroy the bad guys" type of shit is much much more stupid and dangerous.SO we should allow Saddam to continue as he was? I disagree. And the conspiracy theory thing, I don't think that they are simplified in many cases but are definitley banal in the sense that they have been repeated by the same people over the years. 'Conspiracy theories' are just that, 'theories'. THey are based on a small amount of fact and someone leaves it up to them selves to connect the dots and draw in what dots they think are missing.

I definately don't support Saddam, and to remove him would be a good thing. But it's not "that simple". It's not that USA will remove Saddam and everything will be OK. It's not that someone said "OK, lets liberate those poor people and kick that bitch out!". There were plans, speculations, and many interestes involved. The story with the evil dictator is being pushed to satisfy the masses and their questions about the purpose of this war. And to speak of "making the world a better place" and "voice of reason" is absurd.

THere are already plans to help the people secure a government afterwards. It won't merely be an attack, kick someout, and leave.
