I just recorded Rational Gaze

Hi,
I just recorded the Meshuggah Song "Rational Gaze"
It's just a test, only half of the song. From the beginning to the solo.
A lot of Timing Mistakes are in that Recording.
Just 2 Guitars, the short melody and drumsamples.
It's tuned to A#, not another 5 steps down to the real one.

The Guitar is a Epiphone Les Paul Studio Special Black with 52 to 13 Strings
on a Digitech VGS 2120 Preamp (Distortion and EQ) and a
Engl 830/50 Tube Poweramp, recorded with a Shure SM 57 Microphone.
Recorded with Creamware Pulsar Soundcard and Emagic Logic 5.1
The Drumsamples are selfmade, it's my drumset (Sonor Force 1000)
with a lot of EQ.

I think it sounds OK, what do you think ?
In the next few days I'll try the rest of the song, without the solo
and no bass.

Sounds really good man :wink: , The guitar sound is good and tight. Much respect for sampling your own drumset. If you get DFH, it will sound more like meshuggah but, the guitars sound great 8)

The only thing that sounds kinda funny to me is the intro. It sounds like all the hammer-ons and pull-offs aren't exactly there yet. Everything else sounds groovy. :wink:

You say the drums were sampled, but could you play rational gaze on drums yourself? I'm gonna try and record it on minidisc but I need a program that would convert what ever is being played in the computer into a WAV file.

Yeah,
You're all right, the Beginning is played with Pull Offs and
Hammered Ons, that's wrong.
And I think the Chorus is wrong, too.

To the Drum question:
I can play the Verse and the Chorus Drumparts.
The Beginning and the rest is beyond me and almost everybody
else.

it doesnt hammer on that last time it just hits 13 again...

(these arent the exact rhythms i was just trying to get a point across real quick)
