Bali is a close to the Philippeans and Malaysia. North of Australia.
It is a very big tourist area. Multiple bombs went off in a club district recently killing 200 people and injuring many more. Most of the victims were very young and from all over the world. Why the FUCK would someone do this? I mean.. innocent people.

A head Muslim cleric, Bashir, is pointing the finger at the U.S. because:

"It would be impossible for Indonesians to do it," he said. "Indonesians don't have such powerful explosives."

"I think maybe the U.S. are behind the bombings because they always say Indonesia is part of a terrorist network."

That is a pretty fucking weak argument.

Replace "Indonesia" with "anybody who they (US government) have a beef with cause of monetary/strategic reasons" and you've got yourself a deal!

What you just said didn't make any sense to me.
The US is suspicious of a country harboring terrorists, so we go in and plant bombs that kill innocent civilians.. most of which are from the countries that are our allies. That is a bit of a stretch for even the most die-hard conspiracy theorist.

No, that's not really logical. You know what the US administration do? They let general Suharto massacre hundreds of thousands of people in East Timor, all the while supporting them with weapons and money. That's their involvement in Indonesia. All in the name of quenching terrorism, when in fact, that's the exact thing they're doing.

the massacre in East Timur occurred occurred in 1999 long before the 'war on terror'. The US has not funded either side since the massacre occurred. there has been a strict UN wide policy of non involvement which all nations have so far abided by.

not that that has anything to do with what occurred in Bali.

yeah, i agree that is pretty far fetched timdog...
i guess you can travel to bali pretty cheap nowadays if you got the guts

It's still going on: http://web.amnesty.org/ai.nsf/countries/indonesia?OpenView&Start=1&Count=30&Expandall

But yeah, I doubt it has anything to do with this new horrible attack.

Now, I never said they were behind the bombings. What I meant was, the US always bring up the terror alibi whenever they want to start shit w/someone (not the case here, but anyway).
Like, in a few years, when the US realized their Colombia plan reeks of failure, you'll probably see them saying the Armed Revolutionary Forces of Colombia are part of Al Qaeda...as well as Hugo Chávez

That was kinda like what's happening in Iraq now...they wanted the Caspian Sea oilduct (is that the right word? Fuck if I know, I'm a spicko), whereas now they want to take control over petroil in Iraq.
It must've been pretty funny to see Bush's reaction when he heard of the elections result in Iraq yesterday.
