Cool indeed.

I recently learnt that my little part of 'outback nazi' land is popular for viewing. Very dark sky.. they have camps on weekends near 'new moon' and stuff.

This guy likes it http://www.sas.org.au/Irwin/Irwin.htm ("Leyburn" is where I'm at)

Darkest sky I've ever seen was in deep Texas. Somewhere between Houston and Austin. Backwoods road. New moon. I literally couldn't see my hand in front of my face. Very nice. Very surreal. Coyotes in the distance and everything.

What's worth knowing is that all these extra-terrestrial pictures are 'enhanced'. With most, they do have estimated colour values in the data, but they hire artists to 'enrich' them, colour-wise, to make them look better than what they probably are.

Yeah Dirge.. I forgot to mention how magnificent those shots are!
What type of lens do you use? exposure time etc?

And I must say that was a very elegant presentation of the url also.

Simply smashing.
