There is a solo at 4:11 in the and i was wondering if anybody had tabbed it or new how to play it? There must be a few of you out there who've seen them play it live. My guess was a delay pedal, but it's really wierd sounding. So if anyone can enlighten me, please go ahead...

tabs section.
or search meshuggah on a search engine at
look for the thesis by espn on future breed machine,
it has the whole solo.
fredrik uses his breath controller on the solo,
thats why it sound so fucking cool.

I think he means the second solo...
And yes, I looked in espn's thesis and there was only the clean solo with the clean 13/8 arpeggios behind it...

yeah, i meant the second solo. Not in the thesis unfortunately. Read into the thesis about the breath controller, seems like he is using that thing, might have to fiddle around with my delay pedal for a bit to see if i can get something similar going.

That would be a bitch to tab. I wouldn't even know how to pick that apart. His use of the breath controller makes it nasty.
He gets that sound by flutter-tongueing the breath controller. You can get a similiar sound by using a tremolo pedal at it's most extreme setting. Even more if you can control the speed with a controller pedal.

I don't think that even if somebody tabbed that sucker anyone would be able to actually play it....

Yeah, I have a setting like that this solo inspired me to make it, it's a tremolo at a 100 percent
(so the notes are chopped off instead of the smooth change)
and really fast like 15Hz. Then I use what I call my Fredrik Thordendal position.
I'm not gonna tab that out, but check the tabs for the solo from 'vanished' (I thank Baal again) and you'll know what I mean. Just base this pattern around some of the notes he hangs on and it sounds pretty ok.
I wish Fredrik would explain his playing techniques and patterns and shit like that, it's very hard to find it. He should start a column or at least talk to his fabs about this. (or maybe he wants to keep it for himself) :(

^ That would be a great idea. If he did a column every month for Meshuggah.net to explain hes playing style and techniques, and even tab out some of his stuff, that would be heaps coo'

i don't think fredrik ever plays the same solo twice... so, improvise!

I have the solo from NMCC tabbed out. Baal did it and he did a good job on it too! I never thought I would see that solo tabbed out. Maybe we should ask him to have a go at doing the FBM one.

now that would be a challenge. if you're reading this baal, how long did it take you to tab out that NMCC solo?

Wow, I guess no one could do it. How does one go about tabbing out a tapped solo anyhow?
